JANUERY 7, 2018 : Alba Beauty Salon has become a hub for people with autism to share their experiences.
Janet Murguia, owner of Alba Beauty, said that the salon has been a source of comfort for many of the women with Autism.
“A lot of them are like, ‘I have my daughter, I have my grandkids.
I don’t have the money, I don’st have the time.
But they have my beauty and they’re my heroes,'” she told ABC News.
A family of four with autism, she said, was always “very supportive” of the salon.
She said she is proud of the experience, but that “the best compliment I can give is that we are in a place where we are very lucky to have such a wonderful community.”
Murguias website, AlbaBeauty.com, has been filled with posts about people with Autism, including a post from a woman named Anna who had autism and loved Alba’s “beauty and life experience.”
She wrote, “I am so grateful for Alba for being the place where I can connect with and share my story.
I think that’s one of the best things about Alba, that it was there for me.”
The post received nearly 1,000 likes.
More than 1,500 people have signed up to post their stories to Alba.
Murgauias Facebook page has received more than 1.2 million likes and she’s now on the hunt for new clients.
She hopes to expand her salon to other areas of the state and hopes to open a second location in New Mexico City.
